Professioneller Datenaustausch

The flow of information and data exchange in businesses is constantly changing. The times of knowledge management limited to e-mail exchange and data storage on a central server, lie in the past. With increasing data quantities, the need for modern data exchange platforms is growing.

The demand for fast, easy-to-handle and nevertheless highly secure data and information exchange options is constantly growing.

In addition to the usage of cloud computing, concepts such as document management, filesharing, collaboration-tools and data transmission technologies have become ever more important. All these aspects are a part of the general term “data exchange”.

What is a Cloud?

Cloud-based services are internet-based IT-solutions, offered by a provider. Self-hosted cloud solutions are also possible.
The user gains access to virtual server systems, that for example can be used as storage or back-up media.
The resulting cloud of data is always available for the user.

The big advantage of this technology is that the user does not have to worry about the infrastructure management anymore – it is the provider’s job to take care of the security, availability, maintenance and care.

Using a cloud is by far more secure and cheaper than operating an own IT-infrastructure.
The cloud provider offers know-how and experience in data security and hardware integration on a level that an own business IT-infrastructure can hardly keep up with.

Modern Document Management

Modernes Dokumentenmanagement

Can you still remember the archives in the cellar or attic, where thousands of files and folders were stored?
It was a punishment (or the work of interns or trainees) to sort or search for nearly forgotten documents in these uncomfortable rooms.

Modern document management systems have replaced these kinds of traditional paper-based archives.
Database-supported document management systems store and manage various forms of electronic documents.
Certainly, traditional paper documents can also be added by being scanned.

Meta-information, structured storage and effective search functions are further details of this modern form of document management.

Collaboration Tools

Collaboration Tools

Collaboration tools (or often referred to as groupware) are further means of electronic data exchange.
Modern network technologies are being utilised, to enable the use of tools within a team, for example for project management purposes.

For instance, this includes communal calendars for setting dates as well as tools for managing resources.
Online project boards and mind-mapping tools help finding ideas and constantly developing projects within a team.

In times of mobile internet, e-collaboration tools can not only be used on the office-computer, but also on tablets and smartphones.

Safe Data Exchange within the Cloud

Filesharing is a method to share and store files of various sizes online. This not only enables uncomplicated sending of files but also allows different employees to, for example, work on one document at the same time.

For this, data security is very important. A modern filesharing system (EFSS-Enterprise File Sharing and Sync) must have end-to-end encryption. This guarantees that only the recipient and sender of the file are able to see the data within.

The file transfer and storage on the servers within the cloud is always encrypted. Therefore, it is impossible for third parties (e.g. the cloud provider or hackers) to gain access to the files’ information. Even the administrator of such a system can only manage the access licenses centrally and not look into the stored data.

Safe Data Exchange for Enterprises

Verschlüsselter Dateiversand

Sharing, distributing and synchronising files has become a part of everyday work in many companies.

However, this often happens without the consent of the IT-department putting them in an uncomfortable situation.
Even today, security relevant files are often exchanged via unencrypted e-mail attachments or – even worse – with help of public cloud-services such as Dropbox, Google Drive & Co.

This safety problem has become ever more pressing over the years, so that the research and advisory firm Gartner created a new product category in 2014:
Enterprise File Sync and Share, in short EFSS. You will receive more detailed information in the following article.

File Transfer for all Applications

A cloud-based system for a structured and secure data transfer in companies, between users, clients and business partners, requires an effective encryption technology. Such solutions guarantee that documents and other files can be safely transferred and used.

Platform independent clients enable a universal data transmission to all kinds of terminal devices – no matter if within the browser or in apps on smartphones or tablets.
